Our Mission

The Birmingham-Bessemer Youth Ministries Black Church Registry serves as a sacred covenant between BBYM and the Black church community. We are committed to:

  • Uplifting youth leadership rooted in faith and community service
  • Building intergenerational bridges through storytelling and civic engagement
  • Creating a network of churches committed to youth empowerment and cultural preservation

Together, we honor the legacy of the Black church while activating its future through the voices and leadership of young adults aged 18-39.

⛪🤝👥

How It Works

1

Pastor Nomination

Senior pastors nominate one man and one woman (ages 18-39) from their congregation to represent their church in the registry.

2

Essay Submission

Nominated representatives write a 500-750 word essay on "My Church and the Community," sharing their personal narrative and community impact.

3

Review Process

A youth-led committee reviews essays using criteria focused on voice, impact, clarity, and connection to church mission.

4

Public Showcase

Selected essays are featured in a community celebration, creating a living archive of faith, youth, and community legacy.
